Join us for a special 10th edition of SOAP as we dive into the real stories behind creative growth — the wins, the setbacks, and the inevitable ebbs and flows of building a business and creative life. Hosted at Sun House Studio, the evening will feature an inspiring panel of local creatives, plenty of conversation, drinks from our sponsors, and a community raffle packed with prizes.
We’re hosting a casual mastermind-style session where you can bring along something you’ve been chewing on — a creative challenge, a topic you’re keen to unpack, or a piece of work you’d love some fresh feedback on.
Join artist Claudio Kirac & creative health facilitator Laura Strange for a night of creative play at SOAP! This hands-on session is all about slowing down, embracing the unexpected, and tapping into the joy of mark-making. You’ll experiment with gestural marks before carving them into a foam block, inking up, and printing your own take-home artwork.
Ready to put your creativity to the test? Whether you know your Banksy from your branding or your films from your fonts, we’ve got the trivia to keep you on your toes!
Think you know your Pantones from your pixels? Your Warhols from your widgets? It's time to put that creative genius to the test!
Settle in for a relaxed Sunday afternoon drawing session at Husk Distillery. Murwillumbah-based artist/illustrator Madeline White will guide us through loose drawing exercises where play is the only outcome on the agenda. Thanks to Bud Club, All Goods and Husk Distillery, you’ll have plenty of objects to inspire your sketches. Like always, the guided session will end with some time to talk and mingle with your fellow creatives. No artistic talent required - just bring your curiosity (and a few of your favourite materials).
Join us for a chat with Rob Garwood from Firme Agency.
At our first SOAP SHOW, Rob will be sharing insights into his career journey, the highs and lows of running an agency and some of his favourite projects as Firme approaches 10 years in business.
We will kick off the night with creative speed dating (conversation prompts provided!) where you might meet and match with your next creative collaborator. There will be a prize for the most unique collaboration idea to come out of the night!
After the speed dating session, take some time to talk at the bar - we’ve got the whole of downstairs to ourselves to mix and mingle!
We’re inviting three panelists to speak at our first event of 2024 – The Big Intent.
This panel event is designed to help creatives start the new year with new insights on intention setting (it’s not always about climbing the career ladder!) and help build a clear vision on what they want out of the year, with the tools they need to bring it to fruition.
Hosted by our friends at Balter, this social catch up mixed together drinks, games and time to talk for a night of creative connection.
Join us for the first edition of Soap Social. This series of casual get togethers, both conversational and tactile, is all about creative connections. We want Soap to be what the creative community needs - so, at this first Social we’ll unpack all things Soap, together. There will be nibbles and bevvies paired with guided conversations to help us understand what SEQ and NNSW creatives want and need from a creative catch up.
Through the insights we gained from the community, we’ve crafted three types of events that SOAP will host:
CASUAL GET TOGETHERS
SOAP SOCIAL is a way to connect with creative folk through casual nights. This includes studio visits, speed dating, parties and hands on / tactile events like still life drawing nights
PANEL EVENTS
SOAP BOX is all about collective knowledge sharing through panel events, where there is always a diverse selection of panelists from different creative industries, in varying career stages. We open up the industry, and talk about the stuff no-one ever wants to really talk about.
ALL ABOUT THE PROCESS
SOAP SHOW is a show and tell style event where we get to do a deep dive into the process. We hear a little bit about the creative’s career and work first but then we get into the good stuff — how it’s done!
